Bloody Accident

Our friday was good until it turned bloody and huge arguments. X-Husband came home early from work because he called some maintenance people to fix the broken pipes or tube which was the cause of frozen pipelines. Everything was fine and all fixed, the water start running again So, our afternoon was fine, I was watching the kids because he was napping, and when he woke up he went outside to smoke. When he was done smoking he came in and I asked him to watch the kids coz I had to wash the dishes. While I was doing the dishes I heard a panic voice from him and Jake was crying. When I turned around Jake was covered with blood. I didn't know what happened but I think Jake threw a fit while playing with the legos and he banged his head at the floor with the edge of the lego in it. We panic and tried to stop the blood, and while he was getting ready to rush jake to the hospital the blood stopped so he decided not to take jake to the hospital then because the children hospital here takes forever before they have someone to take care of the patient. Since we didn't have any first aid stuff we used bad aid to cover the cut and he went to the store to buy the things. When he came home I was exhausted, I wanted to take a break but he was busy going out and smoke. I was pissed and told hem that non of this would have happened if he watched Jake instead of playing in the computer. He freaked out and started yelling at me. So the bloody accident turned into huge, major fight.

Plumbing Fixtures

It's started snowing again over here in Pittsburgh and we have to leak the faucet to keep little water running to avoid frozen pipe. We just do not want to experience what we experienced from the last apartment we moved out. Their water pipe froze, their faucet in the bathroom not working, the kitchen sink clogged and so was the bathroom tub. I think the management from our previous apartment needs to upgrade their facilities and improved some of the plumbing fixtures in those apartments they managed. It is very important to check the whole place when looking for an apartment or house and make sure everything is running perfectly. We learned a lot from that experience and we don't want to make the same mistake again.

WLW- When I go out, I'd Love to...

With Love Wednesday

A sudden change is eminent in our lives once we get married. You can't do all those fun and carefree things that you used to do when you were single. I'd really love to enjoy the place when I go out. Too, bad that since I got married I don't get to enjoy all the beautiful places and spend lots of time out side. My life from happy go lucky had change to being homebuddy.

This was my last getaway before I came here in the US. Hope to go back in Boracay someday.

Every thing are expenssive here so, when I go out I just rather shop the things I need and eat of course than go to the parlor to have my hair, and nails done. This kind of thing is now over. We can't afford to pay $20 for hair cut and another bucks for manicure and pedicure. In fact last year I only had a hair cut once and that was before New Year. But I really really love to pamper myself when I go out.

I'd really love to go back to church and I hope I could do this thing again soon. I also love taking a walk with my family, go to the park and shopping. I'd love to travel though but maybe when I get rich from blogging nyahahaha.

Bloody Cut

I was drinking coke tonight while checking my blog. When hubby was talking I turned around to look at him but still had the empty coke can in my hand. So, while hubby and I talking the sneaky buckaroo took the can off my hand. I forgot about the can and went back on blogging. Moments later I saw blood on Justine's forehead. I hurriedly check but didn't see any cut or wounds. I checked on Jake and he had blood all over his hand. He was playing with the pin in that coke can and got a cut from the pointy pin because he managed to take it off from the can. He didn't even flinched or cry in pain from that big cut in his finger. What a tough kid! Lesson learns; never give a can to your child and pay more attention to your active and curious children. Darn blogging! Shame on me, blame it to the blog lol. Sorry Jake it's mama's fault.

Stinky Fart

10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and more
Justine cut a fart in a grocery store.
80 men died trying to hold their breat.
Justine cut another and kill the rest.

That was our funny song if any of us cut farts in our simple dungeon hehe. Anyhow, since I introduced solid food and formula to our jelly bean, she can take 3 to 4 days without pooping. So, when she farts it really stinks. When we tease her she just flash her cute smile. We thought she just soil her diaper but it was just a fart. Well, stinky or not she always be our little princes and we adored her so much. Happy Weekend to ya'll!

Top 5 Allergy Myths

Do you have food allergies? If so, you probably know that many myths exist today, making it difficult to know exactly what you need to do, and what you need to avoid, in order to keep yourself safe. Here are Top 5 Food Allergy Myths I found online that would help you manage your condition better.

Allergy Myth 1: Food allergies are a common problem affecting many children and adults in the United States.

Truth: Much attention has been paid to the danger of food allergies today in order to raise awareness about their potential life-threatening nature. Yet the actual number of people diagnosed with this condition is actually much smaller than you might expect. In fact, fewer than 10 percent of all children, and about two percent of adults, have a true food allergy.

Allergy Myth 2: Food allergies and food intolerances are the same thing.

Truth: Many people who think they have food allergies are actually intolerant - not allergic -- to certain things they eat and drink. The symptoms can often be similar, but the way they occur isn't the same thing. Food allergies involve an immune system response to a trigger, which is why they can be so dangerous.

Allergy Myth 3: An increasingly severe reaction will occur with each repeated exposure to the foods that trigger an immune system response.

Truth: It's impossible to predict exactly what type of reaction you'll have when you're exposed to your food allergens. You may find that repeated responses are more severe than past ones, or you could find them the same or even less severe. Because you won't know in advance the type of reaction you'll get, that's why it's so essential to avoid anything that will trigger an immune system response

Allergy Myth 4: Many people with food allergies will have a reaction to a wide variety of completely unrelated food types and groups.

Truth: Most food allergy sufferers are allergic to four foods or even fewer. Some of the most common culprits include peanuts and tree nuts, shellfish, other fish, milk, soy and eggs. Just remember that these allergens are common ingredients used in many recipes, so you'll still need to avoid a wide variety of foods, even if you're allergic to just one thing.

Allergy Myth 5: If you suffer from food allergies, there's nothing you can to protect your health and minimize the risk.

Truth: Food allergies can cause a life threatening reaction, making it essential that people with this condition make a great effort to avoid their triggers and keep themselves safe. To this end, you'll need to pay attention to the ingredients in the things you eat and drink. Your doctor or allergist can work with you to develop a safety plan to avoid coming into contact with your allergens. You should also be prepared to respond quickly in case you experience a reaction. You should always carry a self-injectable form of epinephrine, which can save your life in the event that you experience anaphylaxis. You should also let people close to you know how to respond in an emergency.
These allergy facts are less true than you may have previously thought.

With Love Wednesday - Cool Changes

With Love Wednesday

The topic for this week With Love Wednesday hosted by Jona is about Cool Changes that we/I need to do this New Year 2010. For this year we already had few important List that we need to accomplish for this year as soon as possible. And now i have lots of not pleasant thing that I need to change for myself and my kids and family.

1. I need to teach myself of getting up early in the morning. I usually got up at 10:00 or sometimes 11:00 in the morning. Although there few instances that I get up early but in those times I went back to bed. waaaa
2. I really don't know if I'm lazy or not, it's just that I am lazy most of the time since I got here in the US. So, I guess I have to try so hard to beat this laziness. This is one of the changes I want to do.
3. I have to change my maniana habit. Have to get up my lazy butt and finish my job right away and do more exercise this will beat the lazy side of me.
4. I have to cook meal on time lol. And cut back with out order out because the wife always busy blogging at night and forget to make dinner. waaaa
5. I need to be firm in putting my babies in scheduled because sometimes I neglected it due to my blogging addiction and laziness.
6. I have so many things to change but I'll just keep it to myself and try to do my best to change these first four in the list and take care of the rest at the same time.

Get rid of the Love Handles

I just gave birth to my younger baby five months ago and yet still have the fats from pregnancy. I am not on diet right now because I am breast feeding and I heard if you are breast feeding the quicker you get back to your none pregnant body. I hope that is true. I have to get rid of my love handles as soon as I am done breast feeding though because it looks so disgusting. I'm thinking of possible way on how to lose these fats which is safe and healthy. I have seen quite few advertisement of top diet pill on TV and read some of it online but I don't know yet if that's going to work on me because I don't have self control when it comes to food. I eat everything that I find delicious. How about you, what kind of diet do you do?

It's Eczema

Eczema is a disease in a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the epidermis. The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent skin conditions. These include dryness and recurring skin rashes that are characterized by one or more of these symptoms: redness, skin edema (swelling), itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding. Eczema is often likely to be found on the flexor aspect of joints. This is the information I learned from Wikipedia.

I was in denial when the pediatrician said it was eczema. It's definitely an eczema. I was hoping it was just some kind of heat allergy. During summer, Jake suffered a lot from eczema and up until now he is still has it in his neck and flexor part of his arm and leg joints. It wasn't bad as before but still he is scratching it like crazy. I applied cetaphil cream on it to ease the itchiness and would not bother him that much. That was what the Doctor advised us to do. My husband and I are so worried about this darn eczema that my son is having and we also keep looking for the best eczema treatment we could find anywhere so it will be healed permanently.

Updates This Week

I got this updates from baby center email for my baby at 5-month-old: Week 2. So, thought of sharing it here since I have few new mom friends online who just gave birth recently. You can also visit babycenter and sign up to get weekly update of your baby's growth and milestones.

Care & Feeding:

Night feedings

Sometime between 4 and 6 months, most babies become physically able to make it through five or six hours at night without a snack. (That doesn't mean your baby is ready to night wean, however. That timing varies considerably.) If you and your baby are ready to drop night feedings, here are some good ways to start the process.

Take it slowly and gradually. Start by giving your baby less time on each breast or a smaller amount of formula or breast milk in her bottle at each night feeding. Try to prolong the intervals between feedings by patting and comforting your baby and gently urging her to go back to sleep.

Offer your child extra feedings before bed. This way, she'll be less likely to wake up hungry in the middle of the night. You may even want to wake her for a final feeding (for instance, at 10 p.m.) before you go to bed yourself.

If possible, have your partner comfort your baby when she cries during the night. Babies often come to expect food from Mom, and if you're nursing, the smell of your breast milk may make your baby want to eat. Your partner may have better luck soothing your baby back to sleep without a feeding.

Explained

Q: When and how do babies master a spoon?

A: Learning to hold and manipulate a spoon is a fine motor skill that your baby develops gradually, along with mastering the use of her hands. Most babies don't have it down pat until about 15 months. "Even a 1-year-old may still hit herself in the head or eye with her spoon," says Sajjad Yacoob, a pediatrician at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. "She may be more accurate with her aim when the spoon is empty, but the movement of getting food on it and getting it to her mouth takes more skill." Help your baby practice by giving her a sturdy spoon with a solid handle that she can manipulate easily, and if you've started offering solid foods, give her tempting choices that she's motivated to get into her mouth.

Multivitamins for Hubby

My husband used to take Calcium Centrum as his Vitamins before but when he finished the whole bottle he did not buy more of it. Then, few months ago he bought a store brand Multi-Vitamins for no reason and didn't even use it because he doesn't like it. I was thinking of sending it to my father back home but I doubt if he will like it either.

While me on the other hand still taking the pregnancy pill and a multi-vitamin up until now since I am breast feeding. We can find many choices of multivitamins for woman and kids but how about men's multivitamin for our hardworking man. I told him to ask his Doctor about the kind of Vitamins he need to take since he has been taking other prescriptive health medicine too. My husband needs Vitamins that provide the good nutrients to maintain his good health and energy. They are the main provider of the family so; they should be well taken care of.

Milestone charts: What you can expect from birth to age 3

Having an Internet is an advantage as we can find lots of information we could apply or referred with when raising our kids. As a new mom and parent, I am really clueless of what to expect when you have a baby and a toddler and how to raise them well. Good thing there are plenty of informative site on the web that we can check into and be updated with our kids milestones.

Babies grow in such unique ways: The baby who sits up weeks before her peers might be one of the last to learn how to crawl. Or the 18-month-old who's still communicating with grunts and gestures suddenly bursts forth with prepositional phrases at 2 years. That's why this series of charts is created so that parents will get some insights of their baby's milestones..

Since babies aren't identical — thank goodness! — the charts allow for variations in stages of development. Use them to gain insight into what you're observing in your baby today and to preview what you can look forward to in the months ahead.

One thing you shouldn't use the charts for, however, is grist for the worry mill. Each chart is meant as a guide, not as a source of concern.

For information about particular milestones, click on the links below or head to the baby, toddler, or preschooler development pages.

Yucky Pimples

Having pimples or acne is very common to teenagers. It is part of growing up I think but usually it won't stay for long. Nonetheless, lots of reason why people gets acne, it could be genetics, lack of sleep, or dust and pollution allergy. I started having pimples or acne when I was in my mid twenties due to lack of sleep but it wasn't that bad compared to others. I never had problem getting rid of my pimples, it just cleared up on its own with out me using any cleansing and acne medicine. But when I got pregnant with my first born my yucky, gigantic pimples appeared. I tried using mild cleansing hoping to get rid of it but it's worthless. Nothing changes and it gotten worse. So, I stopped and I was glad it started to clear up after my pregnancy. So, if you have acne problems find the right acne medicine instead of experimenting.

Yay! Love the Shoes

Couple of days ago I received packages from Genny and the two items I ordered online. Thank you Momgen! Then, this afternoon I got on the mail two packages again, one from tsang Dhemz and the other was the shoes I ordered online a week ago. I love it! The color, the size, and the design it's simple yet fabulous. Sandals and shoes are one of my weaknesses when it comes to shopping. I saw fashionable style and nice kind of Christian Louboutin shoes and sandals online that I love to buy. I had my eye on their boots and flat sandals. Shopping is so addicting but I have to control it otherwise I end up broke. Anyway, thank you very much tsang for the yummy goodies.

I want my kids to have wonderful memory of their natal day so husband and I are thinking of throwing them a birthday party. It's not a fix plan yet as I was still looking online for party invitations and thinking of whom I will be sending the invitations. Plus I have to start making a list of what to prepare like foods and stuff. Well, whatever I'd come up with that would be alright I suppose.

She rolled over

January 7, 2010 at 12:00 something Justine rolled over couple of times on her own with out my help. Earlier today, Jake rolled Justine over back and forth like some kind of toy, I reprimanded him so he stopped. Again, I was busy in front of the computer when he tried to feed Justine a cookie, again he stopped as soon as I called his name and said no, put him on the playpen and picked Justine up. After few minutes I put Justine down again and went back to the computer chair. There I saw her working on rolling over, I just watched her if she can't make and she did. She rolled over couple of times this morning and did it again late afternoon. Cool, another milestone of my jelly bean had accomplished. Well, thank to kuya Jake for rolling her like a bean bag.

This are couple pictures of Justine taken last night when I was holding her in my lap while blogging. You see, she just couldn't seat still she always squirming or slide down as if she can walk already.

Snow Time

It's been snowing this past week and good thing it didn't pile up into high inches of snow compared to other places. We took Jake and Justine outside to experience the snow time and perhaps will have Justine touch and feel the snow. It was her first winter and snow time, I mean first time to play and step on the snow. Jake was indeed a good baby, he was there playing, walking and by the time he had enough fun he went inside without complaining. Well, he had no choice there are snow every where, not much fun things to do when there is snow.

Piano Lessons are for Life

My husband tells me that when he was young, his parents insisted that he take piano lessons. He didn't really like it too much, but as an adult, he tells me that he is glad that they made him do that. Learning how to play the piano can be a rewarding experience, and it will last forever. Once you know how to play, you will always know how to play. Just recently, my husband's mother gave us a piano for our house, and we are already having fun. We would like for our two children to take piano lessons some day. Our son Jake has already shown some interest in the piano while we were visiting family in Chicago, and we are hoping that he will enjoy taking the lessons in a few years.

If you already know how to play a little, but you want to get better, then there is a place for you to go and get online lessons or lessons on DVD. If you are a beginner, there is an online course for you too. You can take lessons in hand coordination, jazz, improvisation and more. Maybe you want to brush up on all of those Christmas songs so that you can play them for your family. No matter what your motives are, you can not go wrong with piano lessons. They are for everybody.

With Love Wednesday- Noche Buena or Media Noche

With Love Wednesday

My apology to Jona host of With Love Wednesday meme for my not being so active last year with this meme. It was holiday and it was the busy time of the year plus I got two little monkeys to take care of. Okay enough excuses hehehe I just can't find time to write the post. Anyhow, this week WLW topic is about Noche Buena or Media Noche during the Holiday. Last Christmas this is what we had, a turkey, rolls, fruits and then on new year we just bought cooked food at the store. In the Philippines my family had enough amount of sumptuous food to gobble in Christmas and New Year.

I snagged this picture at my sister FB photo hehehe. I miss celebrating holiday back home. The loud fireworks and the noise all through out the holiday season.

Time for Vacation

If you have seen the news on the web and weather forecast on TV you will see inches of snow in some places. It has been snowing over the past week and we got like five inches of snow. It actually not that bad compared to other state like the Fulton NY where the winter storm has turned into an epic onslaught of snow. While my friend in Minnesota told me that they always got snow blizzard. Freezing and snowy weather is so unpleasant for me. This is the time of the year when we want to escape from all this blizzard, freezing weather and go for a vacation. Spend the winter in a relaxing place and find Outer Banks vacation rentals that won't cost a lot of money and has the nice amenities to enjoy with. It's about time to treat yourself for a nice vacation you deserve.

Simple Life

Life is wonderful despite of all the problems we encountered everyday. This entire problem is what we call part of life. Anyhow, I remember how simple the life before. As long as we eat three times a day, have clothes to wear and house to live everything is fine and simple. When we were little we didn't have nice bath tub or nice plastic containers for water to use when we take a bath. My parents even used recycled drum to save the water rain which we used to water the plants and clean the pig pen. The use of stainless steel drums containers reflects the simple lifestyle and it is durable as it last longer period of time. I think stainless container would stand out if you compared it to plastic container. Which one would you prefer to use stainless drum or plastic drum?

Teething Explained

Teething

The appearance of your baby's first tooth — usually between 4 and 7 months — can be an exciting but trying time. Even before they emerge, teeth can make your baby's gums swollen and painful, causing crankiness and night waking. Teething can also cause excess drooling. Some babies are barely affected by teething, while others are fretful for days or weeks at a time.

To ease your baby's pain: Try rubbing a clean finger along your baby's gums. You can also give him a chilled, damp washcloth to gnaw on. Or try a rubber teething ring or teething toy. (Placing it in the refrigerator or freezer for a few minutes can make it feel even more soothing.)

Consult your doctor before giving your baby any medication. Oral numbing gels or creams (such as those that contain benzocaine) may provide temporary relief to your baby's gums but may also, on rare occasions, interfere with his gag reflex or cause an allergic reaction. Never give baby aspirin or rub it on your baby's gums.

To treat a teething rash: If you see redness on your baby's chin and lower lip, it could be that the constant drooling is irritating his skin. Gently wipe away drool with a cotton cloth (don't rub) and apply petroleum jelly to the affected area before he goes to sleep.

To avoid future problems: The appearance of teeth signals the need to start thinking about good dental hygiene. Your baby's doctor will probably examine new teeth. Some experts advise using a wet washcloth or gauze to wipe your baby's gums and teeth two or more times a day, although not doing so isn't likely to do your baby any harm.

When Does Teething Start?

All babies are not the same, so predicting when your child will begin teething - and recognizing the signs of teething - isn't an exact science. Some children are born with one or two teeth already protruding, whilst others will not have their first tooth until around one year of age. Having said that, the diagram below does give an indication of what teeth will erupt first and what teeth will be the first to fall out.

As much as you love your baby's toothless grin, you're going to go nuts when his first tooth pops in--anywhere between 4 and 8 months. Your baby is born with a set of 20 teeth hidden beneath the gums. Teething is the process of these teeth working their way through the gums. The first teeth normally appear between six and 10 months of age with the rest following over the next two to three years. Teeth usually emerge in pairs. This is a guide; each child is different.

It is important that these first teeth are kept healthy, as they each keep a place for the adult teeth that come later. The natural loss of a baby's first teeth and arrival of adult teeth usually happens between the ages of six years and 12 years. The first adult molars to appear are four molars. They come in behind the baby molars.

The process of teething can usually be broken down into five distinct stages - although some babies will not follow this at all.

Stage 1. Teething discomfort can start well before teeth even come through. You can often feel the teeth that are about to merge; gently run the tip of your finger over your baby's gums. You should be able to feel the teeth just below the gum.

Stage 2. The first four teeth (the incisors) are usually the first to appear. seeing the emergency of the first tooth is often a happy occasion for parents. Teeth often emerge in pairs. It is usually the two upper teeth that erupt first.

Stage 3. The first molars follow next - they sit right behind the canine teeth.

Stage 4. The cannines then follow.

Stage 4. The second molars are usually the last to appear. For many babies, the emergence of these large teeth can often be the most painful.
