The Bald Truth

The main reason why we gave this little guy a buzz cut was because of this darn eczema. The weather is getting humid now and he is scratching everywhere. His eczema is back again so the hair had to go. When the hair was gone, we can clearly see some red spots and eczema in his head. We put cream all the time to his head, neck, arm joint, back and every part of his body that have eczema. We also put cortizone so he doesn't feel itchy and keep his hand from scratching. After doing this routine everyday, the eczema started coming down. We still have to apply eczema cream to his body everyday especially this summer so it won't get worse. So, the truth why Jake is bald now it's because of the eczema.

Itchy Eczema

I have written in my previous post that my older son Jake has an eczema which usually occurs on dry season as well as cold season. He was six months old then when the eczema started getting worst because of humidity. The doctor said that at his age the best cure for eczema is to apply moisturizing cream and keep his hands off from scratching the affected area. I felt bad for my baby because he was miserable and can't stop scratching the itchy eczema. Every night I gave him a bath and put moisturizing cream all over his body and I also apply little amount of cortisone to keep him from scratching because of the itchy feeling. I'm glad lately he is not scratching that much and the one that was in his neck is started to look fine. As of now, it's not bugging him but I know this summer when the weather start to get humid it might come back again. So, it's better to have some knowledge for any symptoms, treatment and remedies to cure the eczema.

It's Eczema

Eczema is a disease in a form of dermatitis, or inflammation of the epidermis. The term eczema is broadly applied to a range of persistent skin conditions. These include dryness and recurring skin rashes that are characterized by one or more of these symptoms: redness, skin edema (swelling), itching and dryness, crusting, flaking, blistering, cracking, oozing, or bleeding. Eczema is often likely to be found on the flexor aspect of joints. This is the information I learned from Wikipedia.

I was in denial when the pediatrician said it was eczema. It's definitely an eczema. I was hoping it was just some kind of heat allergy. During summer, Jake suffered a lot from eczema and up until now he is still has it in his neck and flexor part of his arm and leg joints. It wasn't bad as before but still he is scratching it like crazy. I applied cetaphil cream on it to ease the itchiness and would not bother him that much. That was what the Doctor advised us to do. My husband and I are so worried about this darn eczema that my son is having and we also keep looking for the best eczema treatment we could find anywhere so it will be healed permanently.
