How American Idol Brings My Family Together

With there being seven people in my family all being of different ages and genders, there are not many shows we enjoy watching together. There is one show though, that everyone in my family from the youngest to the oldest enjoys watching together, and that is American Idol.

Once Ryan Seacrest says those famous words "This is American Idol" everyone immediately quiets down and we all sit down to watch. There are few family friendly shows left out there that most family members enjoy together and luckily American Idol is still one of them. We usually start watching the show at the beginning of the season where we all laugh together at some of the auditions of the poor contestants who try to make it to Hollywood. Generally, once all of the contestants have been chosen for Hollywood everyone in our family has picked their own favorite.

Even as the season progresses on, I am still amazed at how quiet and still my family is as we watch American Idol on Direct TV en espanol programming. Everyone has their own opinion of the different singers and I laugh at how serious my children get when they are judging their favorite and how they want to vote for their favorite contestants. While voting for all our favorites can take a while I do not mind since it just means next week, at the same time we will all be together again watching our favorite show.

Jake is so crazy with the hi-5 shows. It's a sing and dance children show with some play on it. He watches this show hi-5 every weekday on TV. And few days ago we let him watch some old episode of hi-5 on You Tube. Now he knows that there is other way he can watch the show. He is been watching this show everyday on the computer. So, today he is been bugging me to watch hi-5 again on You Tube. I had no choice but to stop searching for best weight loss pill and let my son watch his shows in the computer. The thing is we don't have TV right now because our cable box was not functioning well. It went off or died yesterday when Justine sat on it. My husband was so upset when i told him that the cable was not working. He already called the cable guy to fix it. Hopefully the cable guy will come early tomorrow so i can finish my task and have Jake watch his favorite show hi-5 on TV and not on the computer.

Hi5 USA is Jake's favorite show to watch every morning from 9:30-10:00 and 12:00-12:30 for repeats. Their shows are all repeats and they showed it twice everyday on the weekend. It's the only show so far that calms him down. This past days I can't finish all my tast and opps because Jake is in the computer watching Hi5. There wasn't an ending that ends with a fit. He thros a tantrum temper if we stopped viewing the show. Right now, he is in front of the TV watching the Hi-5 and I am sure this afternoon he will ask again to watch this show on YouTube.

Sid the Science Kid

Sid the Science Kid is one of my favorite kids' shows. I record the episodes on my DVR we got with directv deals so that my son can re-watch them whenever he wants. I love the theme music and pretty much all of the songs on the show. The song "Rug Time" is cute. I also love the song Sid sings while he's gettting ready for school. My favorite part of every episode is when he arrives at school and sings and dances with his friends on the playground. It's funny and cute. My son even tries some of the dance moves. I hear his little feet sliding around on the bedroom floor whenever he watches the show.
Sid and the other characters don't look like real people. They're unique-looking. They have mop heads and short, thick bodies. I think they're adorable. I like that Sid thinks of himself as a scientist. He's curious and funny, just like my little boy. He teaches scientific terms like "hypothesis" and "theory". Sid asks simple, child-like questions. He makes learning fun.

In Plain Sight’s Characters are Deep

Since I was finally able to get satellite TV thanks to the new directtv package prices, I’ve been watching In Plain Sight every chance I get. The show is on Wednesday nights at 10 o’clock pm on the USA network. Each episode is different yet adds to the depth of the characters.

This show takes place in Albuquerque - Santa Fe, New Mexico. "In Plain Sight" is a very different type of crime drama television. In this show, the crime has already happened. These characters have agreed to testify at trial about what they have seen or been a part of. In exchange for their testimony, they are given the opportunity to relocate and start their lives again with new identities in the Federal Witness Protection Program (WITSEC) . "In Plain Sight" episodes illustrate the difficulty that relocation has on these people.

Mary McCormack is wonderfully talented actress who plays US Marshal Mary Shannon. Mary is a no-frills type of girl. She is often a harsh realist who takes her job very seriously.

Fred Weller is witty and charming and plays US Marshal Marshall Mann. Once people get over the irony of Marshall’s name, they find a caring, intelligent man who just wants to make the transition easier for everyone.

Paul Ben-Victor’s character’s name is Stan McQueen. Stan is a Chief Inspector for the Witness Protection Service for the Southwest region. Stan is a great boss who believes in his team. He knows that Mary & Marshall are excellent partners who work great together, though he’s not sure how.

Mary Shannon’s family is yet another major challenge in her life. Her mother Jinx, played by Leslie Ann Warren, is an alcoholic who can’t hold a job and expects her daughter to save her, especially from herself. Mary has a sister named Brandi, played by Nichole Hiltz. Brandi has all the same self-destructive habits as her mother.
