Parent Organizations

Thanks to Nancy Thomas for the guest post.

As a parent, I was very concerned about safety when I first moved into a neighborhood. The crime rate was relatively low in my community, however, I had heard one too many news stories that concerned me. So, I decided to be proactive and start an organization for other concerned parents in the neighborhood. Together, we were able to amp up security so much, that it feels like our entire neighborhood has a ADT Securityhome security alarm system written on it.

Our organization consists of a variety of procedures. Here I will detail some of those procedures. One of our procedures is to initiate massive text to other parents in the neighborhood, if we see something that concerns us. For example, if there is someone that appears shady or like he or she does not belong in our neighborhood, we will issue a mass text. Or, maybe a child has fallen off of his or her bike. In that case, one parent that drives by may choose to help the child, but have no idea who his or her parents are. Maybe the child is too scared or hurt to even speak to the parent that is helping the situation. In this case, the parent can send out a mass text to see who the child's parent is. This system has helped our neighborhood feel much more supportive and secure. I highly recommend it!

It's great for neighbors to band together for the protection and welfare of the whole community. Security is assured in this case. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
