I Like The Penguins

Contribution by Jacques Carr

I live in West Virginia, but my favorite hockey team is the Pittsburgh Penguins. We are only about an hour from the new Consol Arena where the games are played, but it sure is tough to get tickets with games always being sold out so quick. We are up here on a mountain ridge and the weather in the winter can really bring some deep snow. It doesn't matter, because we don't miss a game on our satellite TV from http://www.direc4u.com.

I've been a Penguin fan since I was a teenager. I started collecting trading cards at around 12 and have actually made a decent living buying and selling sports memorabilia. I had no idea there was such a market for the stuff until I started seeing trends on the Internet auction sites. As long as there is proof of an article being genuine, then it will go at a good price.

The Penguins stuff probably would sell without a problem. However, I have a hard time parting with it. I've been following the team through their ups and downs over the years. I can remember when Jarmir Jagr couldn't speak English, and no one could pronounce his name right unless they heard it spoken. I even remember when many spelled his first name as “Jamr” instead of “Jaromir” as it is now.

I watched guys like Sidney Crosby grow up in the game. Sid The Kid really was just a kid when he started. Now he is loved by Pittsburgh Penguin fans no matter what state they happen to live in.

Blue Monday - I lose, She wins

Do you know that this kurdapya has the habit of getting up at the middle of the night just to watch Ni-hao Kailan, Yo Gabba Gabba, Wow wow Wubbzy and more Nick Jr. cartoons

Look at how TV addict this lamb chop is...
One time I tried to trained her to drink in the sippy cup. I put her milk in a sippy cup and gave it to her for morning milk. She took couple of sips on it and throw it away. The after lunch I put the playpen behind the wall so she can't watch her TV shows and gave her the sippy cup. This is what happened.
Toink! She tried to pour it out
and more
and here's more. I forced her but she just tossed it away, or play with it.
She'd rather get hungry than drink in a sippy cup
So, she won the battle and got her bottle milk
Yeehheeeyy I did it, i really really did it!
Now time to watch the TV and sit on top of the world.
Or go back to my throne!

Thanksgiving Week Has Arrived!

Guest post written by Hilda McSoren

This week is Thanksgiving week, and I'm starting to do all things I need to do to prepare for family to come over. I have to prepare for my husband Dan and myself, our two daughters, my two sisters' families, and my little nephews and nieces. My family isn't that shy about eating, either. We really have our work cut out for us. Dan has been great about helping me prepare. He has really accepted the responsibility, and he's helped with shopping, decoration, preparing, and a lot of the typical drudgery that comes with setting up for turkey day. The other afternoon right after he took a Miracle Ear Hearing Test, he went out and picked up a few house decorations and got all the ingredients for a few desserts that he is preparing. Dan is really a great partner to have

Despite all the preparation, it's always so nice to have everyone together. Throughout the year, we all have our mundane preoccupations, but Thanksgiving is a day set aside specifically for a special kind of family interaction. I can't wait till everyone gets here.

Visiting Family on Thanksgiving

Authored by Graham Sweeney

With each year that passes, visiting my family on Thanksgiving has always been an event that I've come to love. From shopping for fresh food, fine wine and the best deals come Friday, the holiday has become quite the active past-time. While spending time with family remains the focus of the day, the preparation for the big meal followed by the big game is a valuable part of each and every celebration.

While the time spent visiting family during Thanksgiving has changed little over my decades celebrating, the way I shop has evolved each and every year. With the advent of the internet, the most avid coupon users are able to come together and discuss the best deals for most any holiday food. From free turkey on large shopping orders to pumpkin pies at half price, there is always someone searching for the best deal and sharing with the world.

Shopping during the day after Thanksgiving is no different; with most every ad from any store posted well in advance, the best deals for "Black Friday" are no mystery. Combing through newspapers for the best deals during the big game is no longer a past-time of mine, despite how much of a tradition it was in years past.

Above all, for an extended trip away from home, I always make certain to set my home alarm from totalalarmsystems.com/ to protect my home, as well as my belongings.

Husband's Shopping List

Black Friday was over but holiday shopping is just begun. We just started our holiday shopping which includes presents for the kids, Christmas decorations, husband's shopping and other stuff. Anyway, we went to the mall last weekend to look for shoes and other things that is in the husband's shopping list. Apparently most store in the mall had not offer some sale or discount yet. The prices for shoes and clothing still in fixed prices thus not on sale. Probably because they were preparing for black Friday event. Then, during Black Friday we stayed home and decided not to join the big shopping event that most people have waited this year. So, this morning we went to the store hoping we can still find some good deals. Yes we did find good deals on Christmas ornaments and other stuff but not on shoes. My husband needs a new pair of shoes. It is the number one item in his shopping list. I told him to check online because I'm sure he will find the style and top brand of shoes he wants to buy.

I don't shop shoes and clothing for my husband as he has his own preferences when it comes to brand, style and design. One of his favorite brand of shoes is Born. Børn® is a leading manufacturer of genuinely superior comfort footwear for men, women, and children. So, if you are looking for comfortable and quality footwear then Born is the brand you should look into. It is the brand that provides comfort as well as fashionable and fun to wear. Børn shoes are Works of Art worn by all age groups and promises style versatility that suits your lifestyle. Check out the vast selection of shoes including Born shoes and other top brands at Zappos.com. Zappos is the fast growing company that provide the best customer service and guaranteed satisfaction. It's practically the right place to shop for shoes this holiday that offers free shipping and absolute 365 day return policy. So, shop at Zappos now!

Weekend Break

I'm so glad Friday is here. I would definitely need a weekend break from online chores to catch up some sleep. My little lamb chop got up at the middle of the night just to watch Ni-hao Kailan and some shows at Nick Jr channel. We tried to ignore her but she was wailing so loud and didn't stop until we pulled her out from her crib. Joe was watching the God Father movie when Justine got up. Then she was fussing because she wanted the TV on cartoon channel. Anyway, to make the long story short Joe went to bed past midnight but Justine stayed up with me until 3:00 in the morning. I went to bed at five in the morning and got up at 7:00 o clock. It must be the cold weather at night that is why my lamb chop have been getting up late at night.

I already see some wrinkles and dark circle under my eyes. I think stress also causes wrinkles. It's hard to get rid of the wrinkle if you do not have the money to buy for eye creams that work. Aside from that, it's also difficult to find the best wrinkle creams that work. So, tonight my plan is finished all my online task and hopefully go to bed early. I hope Justine would sleep through the night so I won't get disturbed and I can finish everything early.

What to Expect When Having a Baby

If you want to get pregnant or are having your first child, you've no doubt read up on everything you can get your hands on regarding pregnancy and babies. Many women have fears about giving birth for the first time. One thing to remember is that your life will change once you have a child.

You will need to make sure that you budget your money wisely. You won't be able to use your prepaid credit card whenever you feel like it. You will have to make sure you allow enough money for supplies such as diapers and clothes for the baby.

You may also lose out on sleep. Many babies don't sleep regular hours in the beginning. You will need to get sleep when you can, even if that means in one-hour increments. Unless you have someone there to help you every time the baby needs something, you can expect to be up a lot with your new baby.

You will form a bond with your child that you will cherish forever. Staying up on those late nights cradling your child to sleep will make it all worth it for you.

Your body will go through changes as well. While pregnant you gain weight. Once you have your baby you will need to exercise and diet in order to take the baby weight off of your body. This will require determination and motivation. It will be hard, especially if you are running on little sleep.

However, once your baby gets older you will establish a pattern with him/her. You will get used to each other and will learn when your baby needs something and what it needs. You will realize that being a mother is one of the greatest joys in life. No matter how crazy things seem at first, they will always get better.

Having a Little Fun with Betting

When your children grow up, they are going to discover all the fun you can have by placing the occasional bet. Sports betting sites are some great places to have a little fun, that don't involve all the hassles of hiring a babysitter to make sure your kids stay safe. Really, it's kind of the best of both worlds, when you think about it. And it doesn't exactly hurt that when you bet on sporting events, you have the potential to rake in a little bit of money if you should happen to win. Not to suggest that you can make all your money through placing bets, but you can sure try!

Think about how much fun you can have, just going online to check out the odds and betting a little based on what your head and your gut tell you will work. Granted, there are no guarantees in life, but there sure are some great ideas that end up working out well in the end. If you can figure out a great system to use for yourself, you might end up making so much that people start asking what your secret is. How would you like to be one of the folks selling your secrets in a late night infomercial?

When J&J grows up, she'll need to learn all about how she inspired us to stay in and have a little fun working to build up her college fund. There is just nothing like having a child to make your life seem that much larger, and all of your goals seem that much more urgent and important. Building something great for her and making as much money as we can may one day help to pay for her wedding. Man, that felt weird to write! But it's true, they do grow up pretty quickly. And we might as well be prepared for it.

Throwing a Halloween Party for Teenagers

Halloween is a fun time of year that gets children excited at the prospect of ghosts and candy. If you have teenagers in your house, they will probably think that they are a bit big for Halloween and might find the idea of trick or treating as interesting as Sacramento property management . However, there are a number of things you can do to create a fun Halloween party that teenagers will enjoy.

You should decide if you want to have a theme for your party. The good thing for teenagers about Halloween is that they are a little bit older and can perhaps choose a theme that might not be suitable for very young children. You should also invite other teenagers from the neighborhood and encourage them to dress up. A teenager dressed up on their own might feel a little silly, but would probably enjoy it more if their friends were doing the same thing.

One thing that teenagers and children have in common is their love of food! Be sure to serve plenty of food that your teenagers will like such as pizza or burgers. You can be extra creative with this and give the burgers gruesome faces or fake "blood." Spaghetti is also a useful food as it can be quite easily made to look like worms or guts!

It should be no surprise to you that teenagers get bored easily, so make sure you have plenty of games and activities that they will enjoy lying around. It might even be a good idea to hire out a local venue so that you can have a dance or a ball. Be sure to play plenty of spooky-themed songs that they will enjoy - Michael Jackson's Thriller is always a good bet!

ChaChing! woohh wooohhh

Jake knows how to put quarters in any of the rides at the mall. Babger brought a $20 worth of quarters from his Jar of quarters (piggy bank). Jake went directly to the rides area and ask money. They played over there for an hour while Justine and I played with the slide at the playground. Jake would say "Dada money" every time the ride stops. He threw a fit when Babger pulled him out from the rides and took him to the playground. He won't stop bugging us to go back to the robot rides. I tried to bribed him with the stuff animals from Build-A-Bear thinking he might forget about it. But I was wrong because he even asked the cashier from Build a bear about the robot. We wouldn't want to deal an angry toddler when come home so we took him back in the rides section and explained to him to have three rides and that was it.

This is the video of the buckaroo that last time we were at the mall. He came hope so upset because he was expecting to back to the rides after asking money from Dada. In order to get him out from the rides that last time, i kind of told him to ask money from Dada and come back later.

Busy Boxes for Toddlers

Toddlers love boxes, especially boxes with things inside them. These boxes are fondly called "busy boxes" and are usually a medium size box with a lid, like a child's shoe box or even a plastic container with a snug fitting lid. The idea behind a busy box is to keep toddlers entertained while Mom or Dad is busy doing something else.

Busy boxes are meant to be explored by the child. Fill the box with a different activity each time to keep things fresh and interesting. Some great choices for busy box activities are:

Large beads on a string (large enough so they're not a choking hazard)
Crayons and paper
Stickers and toilet paper tubes for decorating
Age appropriate puzzles
Building blocks
Short pieces of textured ribbon

The key to a successful busy box encounter is to have a specific place for busy box play. For some this might be a blanket spread in a corner of the room, and then the child can play on the blanket with the box. For others it might be some time in the playpen with the activity, or even at a chair at the kitchen table.

Keep busy box time short. Some toddlers have a longer attention span than others, but anything in excess of 30 minutes is likely to end in boredom and frustration. Keep an eye on the time with your michele watch and then move the child on to another activity before they become restless.

Encourage the child to pick which box they want to have and encourage them to only have one box at a time per session so that they do not constantly want a different box.

Busy box time can be fun and exciting for toddlers, and it allows Mom or Dad to get some work done without being pulled on by bored children.

Lamb chop in Pink Vandalizing

We went for a short walk just around the neighborhood yesterday. The lamb chop always made lots of stop to vandalize the walk, and wall she seen along the side walk. This is our next door neighbor side wall fence. Se used the rock she picked up along the road.

I used my cellphone int asking all this photos. I had Jake in one hand and Justine on the other. Sometimes I let go of Justine since she doesn't walk that fast yet but i had to hold Jake all the time because once I cut him loose he would just run away quick.

Jake didn't want to come home yet but I was tired already and the pink lamb chop was tired already. I tricked him of going home and take a bunch of snacks and then we'll go back walking. So, he agreed and asked for his chalk. Late that night he grabbed my hand and said we will go for walk. He didn't forget what i said earlier that day.

A Good Conversation

Contribution by Stevie Kirby

My best friend and I met during a trip to a business conference. It was like love at first sight, only it was like a lot instead of love. We were able to have a great conversation and from there, everything took off. We learned that we enjoyed the same subjects in school and that we could have long conversations about those subjects and what they meant to us in our education. In turn, we were able to learn more about the subjects because we each paid attention during certain days of class. Sharing knowledge was what brought us together.

Using knowledge is another thing entirely. We were able to go outdoors and discuss things, have coffee and discuss things, eat dinner and discuss things, and more. While we do things once in awhile that involve activity, we usually enjoy doing those things that allow us to have a conversation while we're doing them. We enjoy getting to discuss things that other people might not enjoy talking about or even enjoy at all. Our common areas of study are what truly make the conversation lovely. A good conversation is worth all the world to me.

Before heading out for an evening of conversation, I set my home security alarm from Allhomesecurity.com to protect my family and possessions. This makes it much easier to have a good conversation.

Best Friends Forever

Thanks for the guest post by Jo Levy

I met my best friend when I was in college. We weren't roommates, just passing acquaintances in a literature class we both enjoyed. Spending hours of time reading poetry together and discussing major works ofliterature, a friendship grew over the years. Because our hometowns were adjacent, even after college we were able to continue our friendship.

We still sometimes read books and articles and enjoy discussing them much like we did when we were much younger, but now we have children and families, and our common interests have expanded to include activities that involve them too. We set our ALL HOME SECURITY systems and talked off to go hiking, bicycling, watch movies together, and vacation on trips. The list of things we enjoy together seems never ending.

More than just sharing activities and good times, we both have the same kind of temperament that allows us to overlook each others' shortcomings, a basis for personal communication that is comfort to each of us in times of stress and sorrow. We have sometimes even discussed how lucky we are to have found such a soul mate in each other, and wonder what our lives would have been like without that luck. We both agree that it isn't something we would like to think about for too long as we count our friendship a forever blessing.

Gluten free pumpkin pie

Guest post written by Tara Speaks

My husband and I just got married this summer, so I'm still learning a whole lot about his family and really starting to get to know them. But one of the first things that I learned about my now father in law is that he has a gluten intolerance. I think that he first mentioned it when I met them for the first time and we went out to eat at this really ncie restaurant.

So when I volunteered to host Thanksgiving at our house this year, I had to keep in mind to make everything gluten free. So I went online to find a bunch of recipes to make. When I was doing that I found this site http://www.clearwirelessinternetservice.com and decided to change over our internet service to it because I'd been really annoyed with our old service for a long time.

I'm really interested to see how all of this stuff turns out and to see what gluten free stuff tastes like because I've never tried it anymore. I'm making gluten free pumpkin pie because you jsut can't have a Thanksgiving dinner without pumpkin pie! Plus, I think that my father in law really likes pumpkin pie.

Athletic and Musician Justine

She can climbed up the chair and play piano. Jake love music and so is my lil lamb chop. She's gonna be my future musician.

Ball is Justine's favorite toy to play and was her first word also aside from Dada. She is such an amazing girl and she knows how the soccer ball played. We never watched soccer but we watch baseball, football and basketball. She knows how to kick this soccer ball. She's gonna be my athletic baby too. Jake is more interested in picking up sticks and holding the ball rather than play it. They both have different personality and likes and deslikes.

2010 NBA preseason

Guest post by Gerard Mcdaniel

Preseason NBA action is that wonderful time of year when people get together to debate how their favorite teams will do throughout the year. Families huddle around the TV too see how this or that rookie will fare this year, and to make their couch side pronouncement of the fate that will follow a team. With so many games to watch on directtv the armchair coaches world wide get a chance to get up close and personal with their most beloved, and most hated teams.

Check out the greenest rookies as they get the chance to show the pro world their stuff for the first time, and catch a few glimpses of super stars as they tease their fans into excitement for the new season.

The preseason frenzy is matched only by the first regular season game of the year, where fans will gather to see if their predictions come true. Will it be the Lakers starting strong, or will the Celtics look like the team to beat this year? The preseason gives fans the first solid hints about how their teams looks in a year, and thankfully breaks that seemingly endless span of time where fans sit around craving the best hoops action in the world.

Random Bo-bo and accident

Having two toddlers that are close age is quite challenging. Well it's hard but it's fun especially watching them messing around with each other. Until now i can still feel that my buckaroo still jealous with the lamb chop. He pushes her around to get attention. And sometimes he pushes her because the lamb chop steal his food. The lamb chop is younger and smaller than him but she is a tease.
This photo showed how she teases him by taking his toys and food or perhaps switching the TV off while buckaroo is watching.

Jake still over two and half years old but he started to get serious injuries when he was almost two years old. There was one time he got stung by a bee, and one time also he accidentally touch his leg at the space heater without noticing him. There was one serious accident when a glass table fell on his foot that caused him not walking for almost three months because of the bruises. Then, when he was 23 months old he got a cut in his head. He threw a tantrum fit and fell his head in the pointy edge of the lego.

In this photo, we were having a short walk and he run down hill. The wound wasn't that serious as it only looked artificial. He didn't even cried that much when he stumbled down the ground.

The lamb chop however is as equally active as Jake. In fact she is more active than Jake. She is still 15 months old but she already experience different level of bo-bo. Number of times that she get her lips busted from falling down. She also got a cut in her lips when she jumps out of the bath tub. She is a daredevil as she doesn't scared to get hurt but she have a very loud cry whenever she is hurt. And sometimes she gets hurt because Jake pushes her.
This was her latest photo with bo-bo in the side of her eye and bruise in her cheek. She stole Jake's food and the later chased her and pushed her down. When he pushed her, his fingernail made a small cut on the side of her eye. He also pushed her face on the side of the table when the little lambchop stole again his stash of food. These two have the same share of foods, but Justine will eat hers as fast as she could while Jake hide some of his food. Once Justine done with her food she would start stealing Jake's food.
This one was a insect bite. She woke up one day with a swelling eye
In this photo, I thought of making fun of my lambchop by putting band aids on the bruise area of her face and legs. The three of us went for a walk right out side our side walk. The lil girl wanted to walk on her own. While the boy wanted to run. I hold Jake and Justine got away. the walk is uphill so when she tried to run she tripped and fell on her knees. That fall caused some bruises on her knees and the tip of her nose.
This one she was climbing on a little stool and fell on the wall.
Well, no matter how we child proof our house these kids will always find way to get hurt. They learned from every bo-bo and accident they got but they still do foolish stuff as they grow. Bo-bo, injuries, wounds, accidents are part of every children's childhood.
